Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates in 2005. She served as faculty at University of Miami, Miller school of Medicine for 3 years prior to joining South Florida Gastroenterology Associates.
She continues to serve as a voluntary clinical faculty and is involved in the teaching of residents and medical students.
Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D. did her Internal Medicine Residency training and Gastroenterology Fellowship at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D. brings with her extensive experience in treating patients with Irritable bowel, Constipation, diarrhea, Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Colorectal Cancer Screening, Pancreas and Liver Diseases. Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D. also performs all routine/diagnostic endoscopic procedures including ERCP.
She also performs the new Halo procedure for Barrett's Ablation, wireless PH monitoring- the Bravo procedure for acid reflux disease.
In recognition of her professional achievement and competency in the field of Gastroenterology she was awarded to be a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. She is also a member of American College of Gastroenterology and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Shanmugam is available to see patients in the Lake Worth and Wellington offices.
