Jaime Alalu, M.D.
Gastroenterology
Jaime Alalu, M.D. has been in practice since 1978.
Dr. Alalu received his medical education at the University of San Marcos, Lima, Peru and completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training through the University of Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital and Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Alalu is a member of the active staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach and JFK Medical Center, Atlantis, FL. He has served on many committees at both hospitals and was Chairman of the Endoscopy Department at Bethesda for several years.
Dr. Alalu is a member of numerous medical societies including American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, Palm Beach Medical Society, Peruvian American Medical Society, Florida Society of Gastroenterology, Crohn's Colitis Foundation of American and the Latin American Medical Association.
Matthew Q. Bromer, D.O.
Gastroenterology
Dr. Matthew Q. Bromer joined South Florida Gastroenterology in 2004. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Bromer received his medical education at Des Moines University, Des Moines, IA. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Delaware Valley Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He did clinical research and published many articles in professional journals during both his motility and clinical fellowships in Gastroenterology at Temple University Hospital.
Dr. Bromer is an active member of the medical staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center. In addition to performing all routine/diagnostic gastroenterology procedures, Dr. Bromer performs endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement (PEG). Dr. Bromer treats diseases of the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder in addition to all other digestive diseases.
Dr. Bromer is the current medical advisor for the Palm Beach County Celiac Support Group and is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Internists, and American Motility Society.
Mark S. Brown, M.D.

Dr. Mark Brown joined South Florida Gastroenterology in 1998. Dr. Brown is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Brown received his medical education at Medical College of Virginia. He completed his Internship, Residency, and Fellowship Programs at Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Miami Affiliated Hospitals.
Dr. Brown is an active member of the medical staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center.
Hillel D. Cohen, M.D.
Gastroenterology
Hillel D. Cohen, M.D., joined South Florida Gastroenterology in 2009. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
Dr. Cohen received his medical education at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, where he completed his residency and gastroenterology fellowship as well. He was in private practice in New Jersey for two years before moving to Florida. Dr. Cohen performed clinical research and published articles in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis) and stomach ulcers.
In addition to performing all routine endoscopic procedures (including colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, upper endoscopy, and capsule endoscopy), Dr. Cohen also performs ERCP (an endoscopic technique to remove gallstones that obstruct the bile duct) and PEG (stomach feeding tubes) tube placements. He treats patients for colon cancer prevention as well as those with reflux disease, Barrett's esophagus, celiac disease, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and diseases of the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.
Dr. Cohen is an active member of the medical staff at JFK hospital, Bethesda Memorial hospital, and Delray Medical Center. Dr. Cohen was a recipient of the prestigious New Jersey Patients' Award in 2008 in recognition for his excellent patient care. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology. He is currently accepting new patients in the Boca Raton and Delray offices.
Mark R. Dosch, M.D.

Mark R. Dosch, M.D. joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates, PA in 1998. Dr Dosch is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Dosch received his medical education in Belgium and completed his residency and fellowship training at Booth Memorial Medical Center in Flushing, New York.
Following his training, Dr.Dosch moved to Boynton Beach and has been on the staff of Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Delray Medical Center, and Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital.
An active member of the medical staff at Bethesda, Dr. Dosch has served as chairman of many patient care committees and was President of the Medical Staff.
Dr. Dosch is a member of the Fellow American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Palm Beach Medical Society, Florida Society of Internal Medicine, Fellow American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastroenterology Endoscopy, and the Florida Medical Association.
Barry N. Gach, M.D.

Barry N. Gach, M.D. has been in practice since 1986 and joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates in 1998. Dr. Gach is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Gach received his Medical Education at the New York State Program at the Sackler School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel and completed his Internship, Residence and Fellowship in Gastroenterology training at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Following his training, Dr. Gach moved to South Florida and has been on the staff of Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Delray Medical Center, and Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital.

Edward Horvath, M.D.

Edward Horvath, M.D. joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates in 2006.
Dr. Horvath is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He received his Medical Education at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He completed his Internship, Residency, and Fellowship training at the University of Texas Southwestern, Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Marisa Kesselman, M.D.
Gastroenterology
Marisa Kesselman, M.D. has been in practice in Palm Beach County since 1991 and joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates, PA in 2001. Dr. Kesselman is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Kesselman went to Brandeis University for her undergraduate studies and received her medical education at Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University in Israel. She completed her internship, residency and chief residency at State University at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She completed her fellowship training in gastroenterology at St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbia University in New York. Following this she spent two months at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem training further in advanced endoscopic skills.
Dr. Kesselman is on staff at J.F.K Medical Center and Bethesda Memorial Hospital. She is currently accepting new patients in the Atlantis office.
Ronald Levy, M.D.

Dr. Ronald Levy joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates in 2008. Dr. Levy was born and raised in South Florida. Following his medical school training at the University of Florida, he received his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Levy is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Levy performs all routine/diagnostic gastroenterology procedures and ERCP. He is active at Select Specialy Hospital, JFK Medical Center, and Bethesda Memorial Hospital. His special interests include Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Celiac Sprue, and Acid Related Disorders.
Daniel E. McGuire, M.D.

Dr. Daniel E. McGuire joined South Florida Gastroenterology in 1999. Dr. McGuire is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. McGuire received his medical education at Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston prior to completing his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Following his fellowship, Dr. McGuire completed a fellowship in therapeutic endoscopy at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
After completing his training, Dr. McGuire practiced at Cleveland Clinic and was the Section Head and Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy.
Dr. McGuire is an active member of the medical staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center. In addition to performing all routine/diagnostic gastroenterology procedures, Dr. McGuire performs endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
Dr. McGuire has published numerous articles in medical journals in addition to holding several academic appointments at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine, and Cleveland Clinic, Florida.
Dr. McGuire is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Endosonography Club, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, and the Florida Gastroenterology Society.
Richard Milgrim, M.D.

Richard Milgrim, M.D. has been in practice in South Florida since 1983. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Milgrim received his M.D. degrees from autonomous University of Guadalajara and the University of the State of New York. He currently owns active licenses in the State of Florida and New York.
Dr. Milgrim received his Medical Training for Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Long Island College Hospital.
Subsequent to his training, Dr. Milgrim moved to Boca Raton. He is currently on the Medical Staff of Delray Medical Center, Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital, and Boca Raton Community Hospital.
At Delray Medical Center, Dr. Milgrim has served as Chief of Internal Medicine, Chief of Gastroenterology, and Chairman of the Governing Board.
Dr. Milgrim is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates in 2005. She served as faculty at University of Miami, Miller school of Medicine for 3 years prior to joining South Florida Gastroenterology Associates. She continues to serve as a voluntary clinical faculty and is involved in the teaching of residents and medical students.
Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D. did her Internal Medicine Residency training and Gastroenterology Fellowship at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D. brings with her extensive experience in treating patients with Irritable bowel, Constipation, diarrhea, Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Colorectal Cancer Screening, Pancreas and Liver Diseases. Nirmala Shanmugam, M.D. also performs all routine/diagnostic endoscopic procedures including ERCP.
She also performs the new Halo procedure for Barrett's Ablation, wireless PH monitoring- the Bravo procedure for acid reflux disease.
In recognition of her professional achievement and competency in the field of Gastroenterology she was awarded to be a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. She is also a member of American College of Gastroenterology and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Shanmugam is available to see patients in the Atlantis and Wellington offices.
Joshua E. Stern, M.D., M.S.C.E.

Dr. Joshua Stern joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates in 2009. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Stern received his medical education at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Stern completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During his training, Dr. Stern also received a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Stern has been involved in numerous research projects in gastroenterology and has multiple scientific publications.
Dr. Stern is an active member of the medical staff at Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center. Dr. Stern performs all routine gastroenterology procedures, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement, enteroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and wireless capsule endoscopy. Dr. Stern treats all diseases related to the digestive tract, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, pancreatic disease, and liver disease.

Dr. Strippoli received his medical education at St. George's University School of Medicine. He completed his Internship, Residency, and Fellowship programs at Seton Hall University, (St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Paterson, NJ and St. Michael's Medical Center, Newark, NJ.

Dr. Towbin received his medical education at the University of Miami and completed his Internship and Residency at the University of Texas at Houston. His Fellowship training in Gastroenterology was completed at Ochsner Medical Foundation, New Orleans, LA.
After completing his training, Dr. Towbin moved to South Florida and has been practicing in the Boynton Beach/Delray Beach area. He is on the staff of Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Boynton Beach, FL, Delray Medical Center, Delray Beach, FL, and JFK Medical Center, Atlantis, FL.

Michael S. Urban, M.D.

Michael S. Urban, M.D. joined South Florida Gastroenterology Associates in 2001. Dr. Urban has been Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Urban received his medical education at the University of Texas, San Antonio and completed his Internship and Residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY. He completed his Fellowship training in Gastroenterology at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, NY, an affiliate of Mount Sinai Medical Center.
After completing his training, Dr. Urban was in private practice in New York. After moving to South Florida, Dr. Urban practiced in the Lake Worth area on the Staff of JFK Medical Center, and Bethesda Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Urban served as Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at JFK Medical Center for 6 of the past 9 years.
Dr. Urban is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterology Association. He enjoys football, hiking, and skiing.
